Leaf

Summary

Leaf came to us for campaign and marketing support with the goal of increasing the number of applications to their fellowship.

The Client

Leaf is an independent nonprofit that supports exceptional teenagers to explore how they can best save lives, help others, or change the course of history.

The Brief

Leaf had run a number of application rounds with limited success. They needed to increase the number of applicants in the UK market, and they also wanted to trial an expansion into Ireland.

The Solution

Firstly, we reworked Leaf’s website design to make it more credible, clear and drive traffic more effectively.

Next, we crafted a marketing strategy for their summer application round, presented a new budget and bespoke funnel, with an accompanying set of ads to run on Meta that focused on both long-term brand building and short-term activations.

The Result

This campaign was an overwhelming success with Leaf seeing a 2,581% increase in applications for their fellowship following our collaboration.

The website rework saw a 1,032% increase in new applications (from 138 to 1,563).

For the following round of applications our fresh approach to their overall marketing strategy and ads generated 3,700 applications. A growth of 136% (from 1,563 to 3,700).

The total improvement from 138 to 3,700 represents a 2,581% growth.

“I’ve worked with James of User-Friendly for a number of years in different or temporary or short-term projects. I really appreciate James’ support because he always gives advice but also engages with my own thoughts and preferences too - there’s a balance of external support but also being willing to adapt. I value the variety of tasks he is able to help with in the many different aspects of marketing and I really value the support that James and User-Friendly are able to provide to organisations like my own, and to the Effective Altruism community.”
